KUWAIT, Aug 18: Expatsaretaking steps to streamline processes and ensure timely payment of outstanding debts.They now have to pay afinefor traffic violations before leaving Kuwait. The HomeOffice has implementedappropriate methods for expatriates to respondeffectivelyto this need. According to the InteriorMinistry’sDirectorate-GeneralforMedia Relations and Security, this initiative ispartof ongoing efforts to ensure the proper collection of debts owed to the Ministry. The legal basis for this measure can be foundin Decree no. (17/1959) ontheright of residenceofforeigners and LegislativeDecreeno.17/1959.(67/1976) ontheRoadTrafficAct.Inorder to comply with theserules, any expatriate wishing to leave Kuwait, regardless of the purpose of the departure, is required to reporttotheInteriorMinistry’ssystems any trafficoffenses recorded in their profile. The Department has created convenient channels for this process, allowing individuals to settle their claimsthrough the Department’s electronic portal or by visiting specificserviceslinkedto the General Transport Department. These departments are conveniently located in various provincesalongwith offices in land and sea ports including Kuwait International Airport. FromSaturday19 August 2023, this requirement ensures that outgoingexpatsmeet their financial obligations to the Ministry.By complyingwith these legal protocols, the Ministry of the Interior demonstrates its firm commitment to maintaininglawand order and security in the country. . In the interest of maintaining a harmonious and lawful environment, everyoneisasked to respect these applicablelaws and to avoid any violationofthem. The Department remains trueto its duty to protect the generalwelfare and securityofthenation.
